They're Coming For You, Barbara

I haven't updated in a few weeks, so I decided to take the last two trips and combine them into one. The first section of pics are from when the guys cleared bamboo from around the pond. The second section was taken from today when we worked around Dr. Wong's gravesite. He is buried within a large circular grave with small plants growing around the outside, which needed weeding, and so we weeded. :)

What I realized today: peaceful moments with my family are truly priceless.

Getting To Know You

Week 2:

We weren't really expected this past Saturday so our day looked a bit differently than we'd planned. However, we did take the time to go into the gym, hang out for a bit, and the kids loved exploring the area.

Jeremy and I took the opportunity to spend some time together by heading to a car wash and washing the car. We have a tripped planned this weekend and so the car needed a good cleaning out before hand. And, it was nice spending some time together, just the two of us.

Afterwards we headed down to the Wesley Center on our local university campus, enjoyed food, bluegrass, and friends before heading home, to which then lead to the movies to see Iron Man 2.

What I learned from this day: spending time with family is priceless. I am so grateful that we are all coming together to help others, to be apart of something bigger than ourselves, and yet simply to enjoy the time we have together. What a great opportunity for my kids to see love in action....

Our First Day

This is the first day of many....

My family and I, and hopefully one day many others, worked @ Dr. Wong's Kung Fu Academy today by clearing brush and working around one of the ponds.

This was the first time I'd ever attempted community work and I learned a great deal about myself through it: 1. it's ok for me not to be in charge, in control, and still make a difference in a situation, 2. I enjoy manual labor :), 3. when I focus my time and energy on others, I forget my own nagging issues.

We will be meeting each Saturday to do what is necessary and needs to be done, as well as growing closer as a family with friends. I will be posting weekly snap shots of our times together, and I look forward to what the good Lord has in store for us all.
